So today, me and Lewis took a spontaneous trip to the Lake District. From where we live in Northumberland it's about a 2.5hr drive, so not the nearest place in the world but one of my favourites. It really is beautiful and is full of things to do. I thought I'd share some of my favourite pictures from the day, including afternoon tea at Oscars and a stroll around Ambleside and Grasmere.
This was the view of Lake Windermere from Oscars Restaurant. It's situated next to the Lakeland Aquarium, which we visited last August. The restaurant offers traditional and contemporary food and does a gorgeous afternoon tea selection for two for only £12.95.
I haven't been to the Lakes all that often, but there is a little shop in Grasmere that does the most amazing gingerbread. It's not expensive either, at around £3 for 6 pieces and around £4 for 12, and their sizing is quite generous. One thing I noticed while in there was that they also do their own ginger body products, and I picked up a lip balm for £3.90 (will post about this separately, but tastes incredibly similar to their gingerbread!) If you do end up in Grasmere, you need to check this place out. I have pictured the shop interior below.
Another place that caught my eye in Grasmere was a little place named "Herdy". Their shop is entirely dedicated to Herdwick Sheep souvenirs, and is unbelievably adorable. They stock items from mugs to notebooks to food to gift ideas. You can check out their website here.
My apologies for the picture-heavy post - I've only posted about a few things here but I'll happy add more pictures if you'd like to see them!
Where is your favourite place to spend a day-trip?
