Lush Bath Bomb/Melt | Golden Egg

Today's post is another centred around a glitter filled Lush product. This time, the Golden Egg - a combination of a bath bomb and bath melt. Limited edition and from the Easter collection, Golden Egg is a bath melt on the outside, with a bath bomb hidden inside. It's also absolutely covered in glitter. If Wonder Woohoo wasn't for you, you'll want to skip this entirely!

The Golden Egg is another that is scented like their Honey I Washed the Kids soap, just like Shoot for the Stars. I'm not complaining though, it's one of my favourite scents from the brand and I would happily have all of my bath and body products fragranced with a heavenly toffee and honey combination. It also takes forever to melt/fizz away, turning your bath water a not so attractive bright yellow flecked with glitter.

Unfortunately the negatives just kept coming. The bath melt part of this transformed the ends of my hair into a greasy mess, so be sure to tie it up if you plan on giving this a go. I also admittedly wasn't fond of the cleaning up I had to do after, either. If you've picked this up in store you would know just how messy the Golden Egg is, and I hate to say it but all that glitter remains at the bottom of the tub when you've finished your bath.

All in all, I should have known better than to buy this. But it was the scent that drew me in! If you like bright yellow bath water and fishing glitter out of your bath then it may be the one for you, but I personally didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked.

  1. The scent would drag me in too, I love the Honey I Washed the Kids soap - anything honey and my nose is happy. I think in a secret life I was Winnie the Pooh or something :P

But I shall definitely have to avoid it if it makes your hair all greasy - I soak right up to my neck so my hair always gets soaked, greasy hair is not a look I can rock xD
Also cleaning that much glitter up afterwards sounds like such a chore. GAH! It's a shame because it's SO PRETTYYYYY! haha.

  2. I got excited when I saw the picture thinking 'I definitely need this!' but I'm rethinking it now because of the cleanup, why can't glitter just be easy?!

  3. I think I'd best not go near this one. My boyfriend isn't a fan of me covering the bath in glitter .... I guess I can understand why, he doesn't really want to go to work looking like Tinkerbell :D

  4. This looks amazing, shame you didn't like it so much! I'm like a magpie drawn to glitter, so i'll be hunting down all the glittery goodness from Lush even though I HATE the clean up!

  7. I agree, I really hate cleaning my bath after a Lush bomb because i'm so relaxed after a bath I really cannot be arsed doing anything. Shame that it made your hair greasy i usually don't find that with Lush bombs. I'll be giving this one a miss!

  8. This is so pretty I almost just want to buy it because of that. However I am not one for glitter (or getting greasy hair from actually washing) so this will be a miss!

  9. The product looks incredible! I'm not a fan of residue left in the bath either, like my petal one. May have to give it a go! xx

  12. Oh no, what a shame this was a bit of a disaster. I'm not keen on having to clean the bath after a bath bomb, as it gets you stressed and sweaty.. what was the point of the bath?
