When I saw the promotional images for MAC Alluring Aquatic a few months ago, I knew I'd be making some purchases. I don't think I've ever seen them release a collection that has been so beautifully packaged before! I even prefer it to the Venomous Villains packaging (don't shoot me). I've picked up two products so far - the cremesheen lipstick in Mystical and the Extra Dimension blusher in Sea Me, Hear Me. On first impressions, I couldn't be more in love with them.
Mystical is a rose pink and a very wearable shade that I think would suit many. Admittedly you could probably find a more affordable dupe on the high street, but the texture is heavenly. It glides onto the lips with no tugging, and stays put for a good few hours before fading away. It's a pretty sheer lipstick, and because of this it appears differently depending on how pigmented your lips are.
Sea Me, Hear Me is pretty much the blusher version of Mystical; a rose pink. This is my first ED blusher from MAC, and I wasn't sure what to expect. They're defined as liquid-powder blushers, though I do think they have a slight gel texture to them. It does require a bit of a heavy hand for colour to show up, but I prefer that as I can sometimes get a bit blusher happy. Sea Me, Hear Me gives a lovely natural glow to the skin and I have a feeling I'll be using this daily for a little while now.
Although I personally am smitten with the two bits I bought, if you're not keen on the packaging the Alluring Aquatic collection may not be for you. I intend to buy another cremesheen lipstick in Goddess of the Sea when it launches in Debenhams today, though!
