Earlier this week I returned home from Florida. While I was out there, we took a little visit to the Florida Mall and Walmart. I didn't get all that much last year and regretted it, so I planned to make up for it (no pun intended) this time around.
The first product I picked up was in Walmart. I've heard some decent things about the Physicians Formula mascaras so thought I'd give one a go. I opted for the Organic Wear Fakeout Mascara. It claims to be the first ever mascara with 100% natural origin lash extension fibres for a false lash effect without the irritation. I haven't tried this yet, so I can't answer on how good it is at the moment.
Next stop - Sephora. The mothership of all beauty. I didn't have a definitive list of what I was after when I wandered in, so I just grabbed a basket and let myself loose.
I did know that I wanted the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, so that was first in. It really is as good as people say. The brush on it is amazing and the liner lasts all day with no smudging at all. I also picked up one of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in Bachelorette, a dark red-fuschia. I was slightly apprehensive about buying this as I wasn't that much of a fan of the Lime Crime liquid lipsticks, but the formula of this is amazing. It's slightly drying but not uncomfortably so, applies evenly and opaquely and lasts ages.
I was also dying to try something from Bite Beauty, and one of their High Pigment Lip Pencils in Bramble and their Whipped Cherry Scrub came home with me. I haven't tried either of these just yet, but their lipsticks always get really good reviews. Admittedly I bought the scrub because it smells amazing, and it doesn't look like a traditional scrub (i.e. Lush) but I'm looking forward to testing it out.
Last year I bought the Fresh Brown Sugar perfume, and although it was lovely and I used the whole bottle, I took a sniff of their Sugar Lychee version this year and fell in love. It's a sweet and fruity fragrance with hints of citrus, lychee and mango. I bought the rollerball version so I could pop it into my handbag, but I have some slight regret over not buying a larger bottle.
My two big splurges in Sephora were on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette and a Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palette. I've wanted the Hourglass palette for a good while now, but it's so expensive here in the UK with almost a £19 price difference. So far I'm enjoying it, the powders have such a soft texture to them. I bought the latter because a girl can never have too many neutral eyeshadows. The packaging is insanely aesthetically pleasing and the eyeshadows themselves are pretty impressive.
I also left with one of the Formula X nail varnishes, the Kari Gran Lip Whip and a mini Urban Decay Perversion mascara, the last item being bought with VIB points I'd earned at the checkout.
I had a couple of things in mind after Sephora - Anastasia Beverly Hills lip products. These are currently not available in Sephora and I thought I wasn't going to come by them at all, but I remembered reading something about them being in Macy's and when I popped in, there they were! I bought the liquid lipstick in Sad Girl and lip gloss in Socialite. The packaging feels so luxurious, but in terms of formula I think the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks are a couple of notches better. Sad Girl is a lovely colour, but applies less evenly and remains slightly tacky on the lips throughout the day.
Phew, I wasn't expecting this to be such a long post! I also ordered a few things from Colour Pop Cosmetics before I went, and they were waiting at my hotel for me when I arrived. I'm saving my thoughts on those for another post!
